What does it mean to be a Christian?  You might be surprised what your Bible says...

Read only the underlined text and discover your true identity in Christ - and He in YOU.

my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.
“Because you have rejected knowledge,
    I also reject you as my priests;
because you have ignored the law of your God,
I also will ignore your children. Hosea 4:6

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Ephesians 6:12

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned  Romans 5:12

In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Hebrews 9:22

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!  John 1:29

The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.  John 1:14

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 1 John 3:16

Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  Matthew 22:37-39

By calling this covenant “new,” He has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.  Hebrews 8:13

because the law brings wrath.  And where there is no law there is no transgression.  Romans 4:15

For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” Galatians 3:10

For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:14

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” Galatians 3:13

So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.   Romans 7:4

How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!  Hebrews 9:14

Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.  Romans 13:10

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.  1 John 4:18

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.  1 Peter 5:7

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,  Romans 5:1

So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.  John 16:22

19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that He has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.  Hebrews 9:15

Nor did He enter heaven to offer Himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. 26 Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But He has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.  Hebrews 9:25-28

For by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First He says:
16This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.

I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”

 17 Then He adds:

Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.
18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.
19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.  Hebrews 10:14-22

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,   Ephesians 1:13

Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. 1 John 5:10

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.  Mark 16:16

If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.  2 Peter 2:20

If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?  Hebrews 10:26-29
Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots. Luke 23:34

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 15:3

that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:

He Himself took our infirmities
And bore our sicknesses.”   Matthew 8:17

who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousnessby whose stripes you were healed.  1 Peter 2:24

By His power God raised the Lord from the dead, and He will raise us also. 1 Corinthians 6:14

And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.  Romans 8:30

For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love  Ephesians 1:4

You did not choose Me, but I chose YOU and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in My name the Father will give you.  John 15:16

how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.  Acts 10:38

And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.  John 1:32

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Matthew 28:18

All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to YOU.  John 16:15

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1:26

Behold, I give YOU the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over ALL the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.  Luke 10:19

and His incomparably great power for US who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms  Ephesians 1:19-20

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”  16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,  17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.  Romans 8:15

He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. Galatians 3:14

If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29

I will give YOU the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19

So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13

But to each one of US grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.  Ephesians 4:7

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in Me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12

The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Matthew 11:5

Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Mark 11:23

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.  Matthew 10:8

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.  1 Corinthians 4:20

And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4

and to know THIS LOVE that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.  Ephesians 3:19

And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. John 1:16

Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 1 John 4:17

Whoever claims to live in Him must live as Jesus did.  1 John 2:3-6

for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But WE have the mind of Christ.  1 Corinthians 2:16

For in Him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge  1 Corinthians 1:5

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that YOU through His poverty might become rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9

John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Luke 3:16

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you. Romans 8:11

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.  John 14:26

For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.    John 3:34

Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. 1 Corinthians 12:1

4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 1 Corinthians 12:4-5

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.  1 Corinthians 12:7-11

31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.  And yet I will show you the most excellent way.  1 Corinthians 12:31

Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.  1 Corinthians 14:39

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”  Mark 16:17-18

My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,  1 Corinthians 2:4

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. Matthew 12:28

But seek His kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. Luke 12:31

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there, and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  Mark 11:24

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.  Romans 12:3

What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” Matthew 15:11

For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”  Luke 14:11

And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.  Matthew 6:7-8

9This, then, is how you should pray:
            "‘Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name,
10 Your kingdom come.
    Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
    As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Matthew 6:9-13

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:18

For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 1 Corinthians 14:14

This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. 1 Corinthians 2:13

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  1 John 5:14

God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2

So again I ask, does God give you His Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? Galatians 3:5

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.  Romans 10:17

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:26

Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. 1 Corinthians 14:1

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.  Galatians 5:22-23

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.  2 Corinthians 5:20

You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.  2 Corinthians 3:3

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.  Mark 16:15

I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.  Matthew 10:16

Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed His word by the signs that accompanied it.  Mark 16:20

In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Luke 12:1

And knowing their thoughts Jesus said to them, "Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself will not stand.  Matthew 12:25

having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. 2 Timothy 3:5

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.  3 John 1:11

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?  2 Corinthians 6:14

Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise.  1 Corinthians 3:18

20 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:  Colossians 2:20

You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”  13 Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”  Mark 7:8&13

Jesus replied, “Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God? Mark 12:24

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 1 Corinthians 1:27

If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. 2 Corinthians 5:13

Whoever has My commands and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I too will love them and show Myself to them.” John 14:21

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?  2 Corinthians 13:5

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than He who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

He is the One we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. Colossians 1:28

these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God  1 Corinthians 2:10

Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.  John 13:17

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.  James 1:22

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:37

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  Romans 8:31

At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do. Luke 10:21

I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness26 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. 27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in YOU, the hope of glory.  Colossians 1:25-27

He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.  Revelation 21:6

I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being,  Ephesians 3:16

Only let us live up to what we have already attained  Philippians 3:16

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  Philippians 4:13

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.  Ephesians 6:10

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.  Hebrews 13:8
